Minnesota vs. Derek Chauvin


Former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, is on trial for the murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020.


Charges:  Second-degree "unintentional" murder, Third-degree murder and Second-degree Manslaughter 

4/15/2021: The trial has concluded. Jury instructions and closing arguments are expected to begin Monday, April 19, 2021. Stay tuned.

4/20/2021: After the jury was given the case yesterday, they started deliberating. It took them only 10 hours to decide the verdict. Derek Chauvin was handcuffed and taken into custody. He is expected to be sentenced sometime in June, 2021. 

Verdict:  Guilty on all three charges.

Sentence:  Pending
